Confessions of a Quiltaholic!

Name: Renee Posted: unknown
My name is Renee and I'm definently addicted to quilting, fabric, quilting accessories, sewing machines, thread, you name I got it. Or it must be new and I need it. I've only been quilting for about 1-1/2 years, so I'm making up time. When I started this venture, I encouraged my mom and my best friend to take a quilting class with me. The rest is history and I've got partners in crime. I have become so obsessed with quilting that I bought a longarm quilting machine. This monster now rules my sewing room so I had to move some of my stuff into my hubby's junk/play room. "Do you have a sewing machine in every room?" he asked. Well, I did miss the bedroom and bathroom. How else could I compete for the sash worn by the sewing machine queen! Happy collecting & quilting.
Name: Roberta Posted: unknown
My name is Roberta and I am a quiltaholic. Some of my earliest childhood memories are of playing in the 'tent' below my grandmother, mother, various assorted aunts and others while they made quilts for this bride or that baby in our small town. As a young woman, I worked in a fabric shop to support my habit. I was lucky enough to find a husband who finds sewing machines fascinating and likes to help when I am in the middle of a piecing project. When we moved recently, he didn't bat and eye, he loaded all my fabric and machines on the van first, then started on the furniture. He even brought home a lovely antique sewing machine for me just because he knew it would be perfect for piecing. My obsession has taken over the entire garage (thank goodness for a warm climate) and is threatening the family room. The children know I am eagerly awaiting their departure for college so I can reclaim their rooms. I currently have five quilts ready for handquilting (yes..I'm one of THOSE) and three tops under construction. True to the breed, I won't get to keep any of them, but I have an album of photos right next to the family pictures to help me remember my 'children'. My daughters still think I'm a little crazy, but my 8 year old son shows a lot of promise. He loves to come with me to fabric stores and choose fabrics for the next project. He also helps organize the pieces and clips thread while I work. This addiction appears to be genetic and contagious!
Name: Rosie Posted: unknown
Hi! My name is Rosie and I am a Quiltaholic! I love every part of the process. I go wild in fabric shops, I want to make every one I see, I love to piece as well as quilt. I was a small, county seat town, Postmaster until 12 years ago when a bad back caused 3 surgeries and early retirement. Quilts have kept me from "chasing cars". My dear mother used to try to get me to take a stitch in her quilts, but I was too busy with 4 sons and my career. Now I know she is smiling down from Heaven whenever I am quilting.
Name: Ruth Posted: unknown
Every confession tells me more about myself. I love to go to quilt shops so I can stand in the middle of the shop and "breath in the air" the fabrics emit. Cutting a piece of fabric is like cutting myself. It is all too beautiful to damage with the scissors. I was born this way so I know there is no help...hallelujah! It beats being born without a sense of direction. I must confess, back when there were not so many choices in fabric, I did place a different value on my fabrics and I was able to "cut" them easier. Truly, I do place a great deal of value on a "finished" quilt, but at that point it sortof puts an end to a lovely love affair with a growing, creating, inspiring and imaginative relationship. I am not weird, believe me the rest of my life is totally normal. It's just that those fabrics drive me crazy. Ruth
